Cliff parts ways with his original corrugated cardboard firm, using his skills to found CG Packaging.

West Coast is founded bringing together Cliff Graham and Paul Norman as a unique team of experience and tenacity. Originally just a sheet feeder making cardboard, this is the name that will come to define the company.

CG and West Coast are brought together and customers begin receiving a fully integrated one-stop West Coast service for the first time.

With business growing year on year, the site in Kirby is extended to accommodate more machinery and boost capacity.

Daniel Graham, Cliff’s Son, joins the business, eventually working his way up to become Managing Director. Turnover by this time has reached £4.5 million.

Our first investment in a Case Maker. We can now turn rectangles of cardboard into printed, slotted boxes. With production capability of 15k an hour, it’s a game changer for the business, transforming West Coast capacity overnight.

A second Case Maker is added to the shop floor, boosting capacity even further.

As the world responds to the Pandemic, work at West Coast is busier than ever. Demand for online sales surges, and despite seven paper price increases in a year, we manage to ride out the storm and continue to grow.

Rolling with the supply chain challenges created by the Russia-Ukraine war, another case maker is added to the plant, allowing us to increase capacity to 24,000 boxes an hour, without any increase in footprint.

In just 6 years capacity has climbed to 60,000 boxes an hour, with 2 million square metres of board being manufactured every month.

Managing Director Daniel continues the strategy of excellent service at volume, drawing on Cliff’s 53 years of cardboard expertise to ensure steady growth and happy customers.
